| News...July 2010 | |
It has been a very tough year so far but are sure we are no different to other companies, however, we have worked hard to survive by making all the necessary cut-backs, cost savings and reviewing all of our methods of manufacturing. We have seen several companies around us go into liquidation and some of them through no fault of there own. One of the hardest challenges this year is to get paid on time, however, with our Bank and supplier support this has helped to make it all possible. There have been a few changes over the year with the redundancies that had to be made, loosing some really good staff but it was impossible to prevent this with the recession in its full swing. We are gladly back to full time which has put a spring back into most peoples step. Fred Seal our oldest metal spinner has this year announced his retirement and we will be very sad to say our goodbyes' to him on the 31st july 2010. Freds' dad started with us on our formation in 1946 and he soon after leaving school at 16. With over 50 years of service now all at 'Winward' wish him the very best in his retirement and a big thank you for all his effort though his working years. All of our company staff have worked incredibly hard this year in securing new and exhisting customers and have given their full support in order to keep everything going and running smoothly. The factory staff have managed to get everything out on time even with the reduced staffing levels and managment have worked tirelessly throughout the year doing late nights, weekends when required without a single complaint and possitive commitment. There
definitely seems to be signs of improvement and there is show of more
confidence so well done to the whole team and let’s look forward
to a prosperous financial year.

It has been a big year for the company in many ways over the last financial year starting with a re-structure of the management and new appointments in the company.
Eleanor Hughes has been appointed full time in the office and with both her experience and enthusiasm she has transformed the administration part of the company which the team has aspired to. Last year Lance Winkless took over the Research & Development Department and has far exceeded all expectations. With prior manufacturing experience from shopfloor to management level, making sure our customers are serviced beginning to end with 100% satisfaction. This year we are pleased to announce we have invested in a list of various machinery to aid our swift manufacturing. A new 'Rhodes CNC 200t' press, Erfurt 250t roll-feed progression press run, 100t hydraulic press, 3 x metal spinning lathes, box/pan folder, 2 x TIG welders, semi-automatic rotary welding table and an automotive leak test station to name a few. The team have had an exciting time working create this web site along with a new fresh image which updated all of our stationery, signage and vehicle graphics which was well planned with the update of our vehicles. We are extremely pleased with the overall finished articles. Although we have managed to keep busy over the year, the first quarter was a tough one with a down turn in orders due to the start of what seemed to be a recession. We are now in the position that we have never been so busy with enquiries, but at the same time so frustrated with the enquires turning to orders. We now have plenty of secure orders and a steady amount of enquiries coming in from both new and existing customers. Winward engineering has been built on reputation and loyalty where our team all give 110% to maintain it. We have maintained our Health and Safety records with the constant updating of training, skilled tradesmen and contractors. We always welcome a challenge and work as a pro-active team.
