It has been a very tough year so far but are sure we are no different to other companies, however, we have worked hard to survive by making all the necessary cut-backs, cost savings and reviewing all of our methods of manufacturing.

We have seen several companies around us go into liquidation and some of them through no fault of there own. One of the hardest challenges this year is to get paid on time, however, with our Bank and supplier support this has helped to make it all possible.

There have been a few changes over the year with the redundancies that had to be made, loosing some really good staff but it was impossible to prevent this with the recession in its full swing. We are gladly back to full time which has put a spring back into most peoples step.

Fred Seal our oldest metal spinner has this year announced his retirement and we will be very sad to say our goodbyes' to him on the 31st july 2010. Freds' dad started with us on our formation in 1946 and he soon after leaving school at 16. With over 50 years of service now all at 'Winward' wish him the very best in his retirement and a big thank you for all his effort though his working years.

All of our company staff have worked incredibly hard this year in securing new and exhisting customers and have given their full support in order to keep everything going and running smoothly. The factory staff have managed to get everything out on time even with the reduced staffing levels and managment have worked tirelessly throughout the year doing late nights, weekends when required without a single complaint and possitive commitment.

There definitely seems to be signs of improvement and there is show of more confidence so well done to the whole team and let’s look forward to a prosperous financial year.

Winward can now boast that in-house plasma cutting is now available. Plasma cutting is suitable for various materials particularly mild steels and stainless steels producing an excellent edge finish. We have had installed a CNC RUR2000P. This is the most modern equipment offered in the market today used for plasma cutting in the control system model CNC. Portal design reduces to a minimum the impact of thermal, mechanical workpiece during cutting of the control system , body site and support. Winward win the cup!!!!. (Oh, and the shield).. October the 7th saw a great evening for Winward Engineering. Winward formed a football team to compete against fellow customers and suppliers. 7 teams all played on the evening and Winward won 6 games and drew 1. The effort put in by our team of employee's, trainee's and former employee's was enviable. This was our first entry in to anything like this and it brought us results that made other teams jealous. Our team manager, Steve, saw us winning right to the end and ruled with a rod of iron as everyone's competitive streak was blatant. WOW what a year that was! We’ve had an exciting year, moving forward with some of our established customers, and with some new and challenging contracts. In the New Year we are looking to strengthen our spinning and pressing side of the company by engaging with new customers and existing clients. We have always found that once we have been tried and tested we become inundated with offers of work as we always do as we say we will. We are a company with strong communication skills and when we do make mistakes we deal with them quickly and efficiently which I think is a good judge of a company’s character.
