OUR ZIRCONIUM CRUCIBLES
QUALITY
All of our crucibles are manufactured under our ISO 9001 certified management system. Prior to dispatch, every crucible goes through extensive quality checks to ensure that you are getting the most from every crucible.
COMPETITIVE
We have been manufacturing zirconium crucibles for well over 40 years. Throughout this time, we have developed, researched and perfected our processes to ensure that we provide globally competitive pricing, with exceptional service.
EFFECTIVE
Zirconium offers excellent corrosion resistance and is widely used for sodium carbonate and sodium peroxide fusions. In many applications it provides a long service life, making it a cost-effective option per use compared with alternative materials.

Zirconium crucible recycling

Zirconium Crucible Reclaim & Recycle Scheme

To meet the growing requests from our customers, in 2025 we introduced a reclaim and recycling scheme for our Zirconium Crucibles. We offer to buy back used crucibles and recycle them with our already established refiners, who then use the material as additions to ‘Master Alloy’ production, extending the life cycle of the zirconium.

Zirconium Crucibles -  Made in the UK

Our factory is located at the heart of the UK in Aldridge, Walsall. We are just 10 minutes away from the M6 and 30 minutes away from Birmingham, giving us an ideal location to serve both UK and export customers.

Zirconium Crucibles

Advantages
Zirconium metal is a most effective all-round crucible for fusions using sodium carbonate or sodium peroxide and is an excellent low-cost replacement for platinum crucibles. In many fusion workflows, zirconium can offer a long service life, making it more cost-effective per use than alternative crucible materials.
Sudden contact with cold, metallic surfaces is generally tolerated by zirconium crucibles.
These crucibles maintain their strength and integrity at high temperatures, providing stability in thermal processes.
Zirconium crucibles are generally non-reactive in many high-temperature processes, helping to reduce contamination risk.
In many applications, no specialised tongs or triangles are required for handling hot zirconium crucibles (unlike platinum).
The mechanical properties of zirconium, such as its toughness and resistance to mechanical wear, contribute to the durability and long lifespan of zirconium crucibles.
Zirconium has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion, reducing the risk of cracking under rapid temperature changes
Zirconium crucibles are especially adaptable to the needs of the analytical chemistry laboratory, such as in strong alkaline fusions employed to reduce refractory samples to a soluble form, and for high temperature ignition ashing purposes
Disadvantages
It is no secret that zirconium crucibles cost more per crucible than porcelain, steel or nickel, but are much cheaper than platinum crucibles.
Always avoid the use of a muffle furnace with zirconium unless a blanket of inert gas such as argon or helium is also used.
Typically not recommended above 900°C in air or zirconium crucibles will enlarge and oxidise (turn pinkish white).
Hydrofluoric acid cannot be used to clean zirconium crucibles.
