Our Flat Bed Cutting Service

At Winward Engineering, our flat-bed cutting serves as the foundation for our metal spinning, metal pressing and fabrication operations. We utilise in-house plasma cutting for rapid, cost-effective results, and through our subcontractors, we offer laser and water-jet cutting to accommodate a diverse range of materials, tolerances, and applications. This comprehensive approach enables us to select the optimal process for each project, ensuring that every part meets the highest quality standards while perfectly aligning with your design requirements.

In-House CAD

Our in-house CAD capabilities ensure a seamless transition from design to production. We primarily work with DXF and STEP files, but we’re also fully equipped to view other CAD formats.

To streamline the quotation process, we request that any CAD drawing is also sent in a PDF or 2D format.

Expert Flat Bed Cutting in Aldridge, Walsall

Our factory is located at the heart of the UK in Aldridge, Walsall. We are just 10 minutes away from the M6 and 30 minutes away from Birmingham, giving us an ideal location to serve both UK and international customers.

Plasma Cutting

Plasma cutting harnesses the power of a superheated, electrically ionized gas to swiftly cut through a variety of electrically conductive materials, including steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, and copper. Our plasma cutting service is pivotal in delivering cost-effective blanks for our Metal Spinning and Metal Pressing operations.

Our plasma cutter features an expansive 4m x 2m cutting bed, enabling us to efficiently process a diverse range of materials while offering competitive pricing without sacrificing on quality or flexibility.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting harnesses a high-powered laser beam, guided by CNC controls, to vaporize material and produce exceptionally clean, precise edges. Advanced systems uses optics to focus the beam onto the workpiece, ensuring intricate detail and a superior surface finish even on complex designs. Ideal for projects requiring fine tolerances and minimal heat distortion.

We have an established network of laser cutting sub-contractors who help us offer a comprehensive service to our customers. By leveraging this network, our customers benefit from expert laser cutting for their metal spun, pressed or fabricated components.

Water Jet Cutting

Water Jet Cutting employs an extremely high-pressure jet of water—often combined with an abrasive—to cut through a wide variety of materials with exceptional precision and without heat-induced distortions. This process is ideal for materials sensitive to high temperatures, as well as for cutting thicker, more robust substances. Water jet cutting offers versatile, clean cuts with minimal kerf, preserving the integrity and properties of the material.
