Metals we work with

Explore the wide range of metals that we finish to meet your unique manufacturing needs:

Powder Coating

We have made a major investment in our in-house, semi-automatic powder coating track, ensuring a high-quality, durable, corrosion-resistant finish for any industry or application.

We can provide a powder coated finish on parts up to 1200mm in diameter. We employ automatic cleaning, curing, and manually apply every coating to ensure a flawless, even layer that meets the highest industry standards.

We offer finishes ranging from durable nylon-modified coatings ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, to UV and weather-resistant architectural finishes made for demanding exterior applications. We can powder coat in any colour based on RAL or BS standards. We are committed to providing eco-friendly, long-lasting coatings designed to meet your specific surface needs.

Metal Polishing

Our highly skilled team hand polishers all metals to achieve a high quality satin or bright finish. We carefully select abrasives (coarser grades to eliminate surface imperfections and finer grades for a non-marking, smooth finish) tailored to each metal’s unique properties.

Our commitment to quality craftsmanship ensures a consistent satin or mirror-shine finish, providing a durable, aesthetically pleasing result that meets the stringent demands of both industrial and commercial applications.

Metal Plating

Metal plating is a vital finishing process in which a thin metal coating is applied to enhance another metal’s durability, performance, and appearance. Services range from zinc plating for superior corrosion resistance to chrome plating for an aesthetic appeal, ensuring that every treatment is tailored to the specific application and performance requirements of the component.

We have an established network of metal finishing sub-contractors who help us offer a comprehensive service to our customers. By leveraging this network, our customers benefit from custom, expert metal finishing solutions that enhance their metal spun, pressed or fabricated components.

Metal Anodising

Metal anodising is a vital finishing process in which an electrochemical treatment is applied to create a durable aluminium oxide layer on aluminium surfaces, thereby enhancing corrosion resistance, wear resistance and overall performance.

Select from a range of services, from hard anodising, which produces a thicker, more durable and wear-resistant coating suited to harsh environments in industries such as defence, automotive and engineering, to colour (soft) anodising for decorative industries such as lighting.

Electropolishing

Electropolishing (also known as electrochemical or anodic polishing) is an advanced process that refines metal surfaces by gently dissolving a thin layer of material from the work piece. During this process, the metal part is immersed in a temperature-controlled acid bath, typically a mixture of sulphuric and phosphoric acids, and acts as the anode in a DC circuit. This ensures that the more prominent micro-peaks are dissolved faster than the recesses, resulting in a smooth, lustrous finish that enhances corrosion resistance whilst also passivating, and deburring the work piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Metal Finishing services do you offer in-house?

We complement our core Metal Spinning, Metal Pressing, and Fabrication services with comprehensive in-house finishing capabilities. This includes a fully equipped, semi-automatic powder coating track, and a dedicated metal polishing team along with tumble finishing and an automatic part washing/degreasing system.

What is Powder Coating and what are the benefits?

Powder coating is a type of coating applied as a free-flowing, dry powder that’s electrostatically charged and then cured under heat. Unlike conventional liquid paint that relies on evaporating solvents, powder coating forms a thick, tough finish using either thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers. This method creates a durable, long-lasting finish that stands up to rough use, making the process popular with industries such as agriculture, automotive and medical.

What Metal Polishing finishes can you offer and on what metals?

We offer a comprehensive in-house Metal Polishing service to complement our Metal Spinning, Metal Pressing, and Fabrication services. Our expert team delivers a range of finishes, from hand-polished satin to bright mirror polish, ideal for industries such as automotive, food & drink, and medical.

We polish a wide range of metals, including aluminium, stainless steel, brass, copper, titanium, and most other ferrous and non-ferrous materials, tailoring our techniques to suit each metal to ensure a high-quality finish.

What is Metal Anodising and when is it used?

Metal Anodising is an electrochemical process that transforms the surface of metals (typically aluminium) into a durable, corrosion-resistant oxide layer. This treatment not only enhances durability and appearance but also allows for colour anodising, where dyes are infused into the porous surface to create a vibrant finish. It's ideal for applications in lighting, architectural, and engineering.

Anodising is used when additional protection against wear and corrosion is needed or when a colour option is required, typically for an aesthetic appeal.

What is the difference between Soft Anodising and Hard Anodising?

Soft Anodising produces a thinner, more porous oxide layer that is ideal for decorative applications (such as lighting), often allowing for vibrant colour options.

In contrast, Hard Anodising creates a much thicker, denser coating that delivers superior wear and corrosion resistance, making it better suited for demanding industrial applications such as aerospace, defence, and engineering.
